She's finally done it. Just as I expected - "Mommy, we have to take Kid home with us!" UGH! I knew it was just a matter of time. Of course I asked how she thought we were going to do that and she said that Kid could just walk. This horse is old - it wouldn't make it. So I told her that was too long of a walk for her. Anne then suggested we take her on the plane and I quickly explained that she doesn't have a ticket and she would be much happier staying here with her friends. I also asked where she thought we were going to put her and she said, "We can put her by the swing set."
This is the Head Wrangler, Emily. Instead of walking next to Anne, they just hold on to Kid's lead rope and Anne follows behind. I was down at the barn with her for a while, but then Emily said she would keep her for an hour or two. So I came back up to Main Street and did some other work, while Anne stayed at the barn with Emily and rode Kid and helped in the barn. I'm afraid she's going to want to ride on a regular basis. Shanon - where are you when I need you??? Hee! Hee!
Okay - so Saturday night after our session left, they brought in a local man to teach us Country Mountain Dancing. We had the absolute best time!!!!! You can see Anne, Russ and Jarod is in the background here.
This is all of us in the Dining Hall.
Russ twirling his partner. We switched up the entire evening. Of course we didn't get to bed until after 12:00 that night, but what fun!
I can't even begin to tell you how tired I am. It's 10:00 and I hit my wall hours ago. This has been a very busy session. I've had a little Calligraphy to do and it has made my nights longer. That's why I haven't blogged for a few nights. I worked last night until my fingers were so cold they wouldn't work any more. I think tomorrow's high is 66!!! Awesome!
Anyway - this has been a hard session - emotionally and physically. Yesterday morning I caught a fellow staff member involved in inappropriate behavior which led to him being fired. This morning I was up at 5:30 and by 10:30 I was driving one of my Trailbosses to the Emergency Room as he had cut his thumb with an axe while chopping some kindling. They gave him an option of stitches or not and he chose not to but he still had a pretty bad cut. We had some trouble with the ovens in the kitchen today and I helped out serving supper to our 250 people. Our cook, Ginger, is awesome. The food here has been delicious. I spent 4 hours with her in the kitchen and we baked 500 cookies from scratch! UGH! Of course, the dough was pre made earlier in the day - we just baked them. But that's a lot of cookies! Also, just before we left to come to bed, we found out that the water tanks are empty (this happens every once in a while) so no showers for anyone tonight.
Russ had another Devotional time with staff tonight and had 12 attend. He said it went really well. He came in VERY excited! This past week has been hard, but we have probably seen the most changes. I have girls coming to me for advice, people confiding in me - wanting to talk. The same with Russ. He shared tonight about Joseph and how bad things happened in his life but it all happened for a purpose. He's speaking truth to them and they are eating it up. Please continue to pray as we only have about 2 weeks left. Our time is quickly coming to an end and we want to make the most of it.
I am off to bed. I'm exhausted and have another big day tomorrow. It's our long day - up at 5:30 and the campers leave at 7pm. We stay up late cleaning to get ready for our next group. Wednesday is our day off and we are going to the coast. We reserved a room at an Inn with an ocean view as we don't have to report until Thursday at noon. Besides - Thursday is Russell's 40th birthday!!!!!
Until next time with pictures of the Pacific.........
