Butte Creek - Oregon 7-3-08

The first session of kids came today. 13 kids and 6 adults. This is the smallest session we will have - but it makes for great training. They are all very excited to be here.
Russ did his first chapel session today - it went really well. He's incorporating many of the staff in chapel and he asked Emily - the lead wrangler - if she would give a little talk on prayer. She was excited and nervous at the same time as she told us that she had been praying that the Lord would use her in a more public way. She did great!!!!
It's so awesome to know that God is using little things like this already.
Anne and I walked down to the horse barn today. There are 25 - 30 horses here right now. In the winter they have about 80. They herd the others to another camp 180 miles from here. Literally walk them up. Takes 7 - 8 days. Saddle bags and sleeping under the stars - being a city girl - I'm definitely getting an education. Shanon - been thinking about you a lot!!!!!
Here's a picture of Russ hiking up the hill - this is our Class B uniform - we wear this all day except when we where our Class A (below) for flag and chapel. Isn't he cute????
Singing rehearsal for chapel. I don't know how we are going to get the hats home! I think I'm going to have to ship some things back!
Maryanne is our nurse. She is really sweet - Anne has taken to her. She watches her for me a lot so I can run and do things around camp. Anne's other new friend is Alby. He is one of the trailbosses in charge of the kids. He's a neat guy. Anne says she likes him because he has blonde curly hair like her. She follows him everywhere. I've never seen her so obsessed. Not sure if I should worry or not.

Anne and Alby
Well - Russ is back from the shower so I guess I'll sign off and get to bed. More tomorrow.....
