Butte Creek Ranch - Oregon 6-29-08

Last night was our first night in our pop up - it went well. The temperature dropped down and the wind picked up a bit. Had to zip up all the flaps and get cozy. At one point, the wind blew our front canopy up on top of the camper - poles and all. Russ and I thought the kids bed had collapsed! We just giggled afterwards! It was loud - amazingly the kids slept right through it.
Today was our first full day in camp. Weather was much better - although it did rain and brought in humidity. Felt like Florida! I received training today on what I will be doing as a Commissioner. It will be a pretty easy job and I can take Anne with me. I work with two main guys, Sqrat and Newt - AKA Phil and Nate. Both are in college and are artists. Hooking them up with Jarod on our days off so they can teach him some art stuff. They seem like nice guys.
Russ has already had an opportunity to share the gospel with a guy named Billy. He approached Russ and began asking questions - so we are praying that the relationship will continue. He's a nice guy - an epileptic - he kicked a soccer ball around with Jarod and Anne today. They are fitting in just fine with everyone and all the teens seem to enjoy them.
I met a few high school girls in the shower room today - Andrea (Snowflake) and Alicia. Just beginning relationships with them as well. Emily is the main horse gal - she sat with us at dinner tonight and I really like her - she's a college student.
Anyway - this is only day 2 and we are quickly getting to know these students and building relationships. I give you names so you can pray for them specifically and we can keep you updated. I'm amazed at the potential that is here. Plus add 90 adults and 180 9-11 year olds two times a week and wow!!!!
Well - I'm signing off for tonight. 7:15 flag ceremony comes early. I'll write again tomorrow.
Cami
